Simulation of normal impact of micron-sized particle with elastic-plastic contact
Abstract
Central impact of a particle at deformable sub-strate was investigated numerically. The micron-sized par-ticle presents a sphere with the radius R = 0.6 μm. The nonlinear-dissipative contact model with adhesion was developed to model central impact forces. Deformation behaviour is described by elastic-plastic contact model with loading and unloading. Damping was described by the nonlinear Tsuji model. The load-dependent detachment is of nonlinear character. The problem was solved by the Discrete Element Method. Different dissipation mecha-nisms were examined. Numerical results are compared with published experiment results.Downloads
